Her architecture is so much prettier than the old hag Miss Macy's is across the street. She has graced the streets of Boston and proudly worn the name "Filene's" since 1912. The day it opened , Sept. 3, 235,000 people poured through the store to see what this wonderful new retailer was all about.
Unfortunately, The 'Fat Lady' is warming up. She is clearing her throat. What was once six floors packed with high-end merchandise has been reduced to a single floor of clearance stuff. It is now called " Filene's Clearance Center"...
"Meet me at the Clock" was used for advertising and posted on the subway walls. It referred to the well-known 'Filene's' Clock on the front of the building.
